Many drivers could be risking a fine of as much as 1,000 and three to six points on their licence because they don't know how much they can legally tow.
Drivers who passed their test after January 1, 1997 and have a B category only on there licence are limited to towing a trailer with a MAM of 750kg or less.
In practice, this means a younger driver towing a caravan, horsebox or trailer may well be breaking the law.
